Nicholas Brown
Nicholas Brown is a geographer and artist based in Iowa City (USA). He teaches in the American Indian and Native Studies Program and the Department of Geography at the University of Iowa. Nicholas’s research focuses on landscape, justice, and the politics of indigeneity in the Great Lakes and Alberta/Montana borderlands. His recent article, “The Logic of Settler Accumulation in a Landscape of Perpetual Vanishing,” explores how primitive accumulation functions as an ongoing process within settler-colonial contexts. Re-Collecting Black Hawk: Landscape, Memory, and Power in the American Midwest (co-authored with Sarah Kanouse) is forthcoming from the University of Pittsburgh Press in April 2015.
